I would like to thank the beautiful Tim Chappel for making my stage costumes for the REWIND – The Aretha Franklin Songbook tour.
Tim won an Oscar, British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) award and Australian Film Institute award for his costume design for the feature film The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. He revisited this work in Priscilla Queen of the Desert, the musical which has played in Sydney, Melbourne, New Zealand, America and on the West End in the UK. Priscilla Queen of the Desert, the musical has since won a Helpmann award for Best Costume, a Greenroom award for Best Costume, an Olivier award for Achievement in Costume Design and a Tony Award for Best Costume Design of a Musical.
After the success of The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Tim spent many years designing for projects in the USA including a number of feature films; Today You Die, Lovewrecked, Into the Sun, Red Riding Hood, Boat Trip, Miss Congeniality, The Simian Line, The Velocity of Gary, Brave New World and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Tim has also worked with Missy Elliott, Cher and Matchbox 20
I was fortunate enough to work with Tim on the 2010 season of The Sapphires and I absolutely love his work. It is an absolute honour to have this man on board to design my costumes for the REWIND – The Aretha Franklin Songbook tour.
