GET your Christine Anu fix before it’s too late.
The beautiful singer is bringing Rewind – The Aretha Franklin Songbook to Adelaide, Pt Pirie and Noarlunga to coincide with Aretha Franklin’s 70th birthday and the release of an album of the same title, but she hints to Confidential it might be her last time here.
“Come and see it because you don’t want to miss out,” she says. “You don’t know when I’ll be back down in your neck of the woods ever again.”
The singer, who was in Adelaide in The Sapphires for the 2010 Cabaret Festival, says she is keen to come back to the state.
“I love whenever I get a chance to come to South Australia, but I only ever visit Adelaide so I’m looking forward to Pt Pirie and the whole further experience. “
Onstage, Christine will be wearing exquisite razzle-dazzle numbers made especially for her by Priscilla Queen of the Desert costume designer Tim Chappel.
“Absolutely razzle dazzle!” she says of her stage wardrobe.
“I feel like I’ve had a really big soul workout when I come offstage singing these songs.”
As for meeting Aretha, who suffers from poor health, Christine hopes her dream will come true. “It’s on my to-do list.”
Christine performs on July 5 at Hopgood Theatre, Noarlunga, July 6 Space Theatre, and on July 7 at Northern Festival Centre, Port Pirie.

Dear Christine,
You are a top class and versatile singer and performer. I saw you recently on Living Black (SBS) which further reinforced my view. I also enjoyed your performance in Outlands which was a bit of a departure from your usual work. When are you releasing the Aretha Franklin Songbook album please as I would like to buy that CD? To give you an idea of my musical tastes I also like Aretha, Billy Holliday and Ella Fitzgerald as well as the too many artists to mention who perform good house/dance.
Kind regards
Dietmar Hollman
